1) accommodations: book NOW. Hotels are ungodly high during the show week. I've found decent places at reasonable rates on Air bnb. You might go that route
2) plan to spend at least two days at the show. Can't see all of it in one day especially first time and if you're wanting to talk to certain vendors
3) lots of good restaurants including bbq in town. Scout out ahead of time
