I'd look into something like Splashtop. It's pretty straightforward to set up and use, and you don't have to mess with much networking. If you're looking for a free option, you could set up a VPN and use Windows Remote Desktop through that. Just make sure you're not exposing Remote Desktop directly to the internet.
