You skirted around that pretty good. Again, I'll say no reputable breeder is going to sell anyone a 6 month old prospect are they? If you want to raise your own bull, go for it, nobody cares. No, he's not looking for a bull for his herd, he's looking for a weaning age calf to make a bull. That for someone that most likely wants a reasonable priced bull, won't work out well. If a guy with hundreds of cows that are good AI bred for generations wants to save some bulls out of breed top AI sires, that's a different deal altogether. And you can use all those things you mentioned to help the selection process, but at the end of the day there will still be a big sort on them...or you're doing it wrong. Knock yourself out

You never answered what lessons I'm going to learn

What exactly did I skirt around?

No" reputable breeder" is going to sell a young animal"
Actually the seed stock growers that I've spoke with part of their business is they will sell some of that young prospects as a prospect because it's not making the cut to go through there program but still makes an absolutely magnificent animal for a guy and is herd

So "he's not looking for a bull for his herd. He's looking for a calf to make a bull for his herd". Got it. Thank you .

Who says that the guy he's looking at a calf from or myself or others aren't using AI genetics?

Nowhere in his conversation did he say he found a nice prospect from 30 years of line breeding and its third eye is looking really good and for no teeth it eats well....

" Knock yourself out". On this forum that basically means you're saying " I know that I'm right. I just can't back it up"
