Southern Missouri | Just as soon as someone can explain to me how you apply anything aerially and not take a chance on having skips , as in areas of the field where no chemical hits the ground, without having overlap ,if you don’t want skips ,you have to have some overlap when applying aerially. A ground rig with tips a few inches above the sprayed surface and running rtk can not have skips and have very very little overlap , but a drone plane or helicopter? If you don’t want to run the risk of skips ,you better have some overlap . A drone running on rtk and having overlap as it should is gonna leave some highly visible streaks because its amount of overlap is pretty accurate, overlap has more chemical applied in those overlap areas ,especially with herbicides those overlap streaks are gonna show up when applied with highly accurate passes as a drone most certainly does . There’s just no way to apply aerially and to make sure you don’t have skips and not have overlap and drones have very accurate overlap and it’ll show up especially in pictures from the air .
I started having rice herbicides applied aerially 52 years ago and the airplane passes then were measured by someone walking across the middle of the field with an umbrella and stepping so many steps between airplane passes , if the passes were too wide ,we’d have weed strips missed by herbicides out of plane and was easy to see they were never gonna die , where we had good overlap and no skips ,the overlap areas of course had more chemical and those strips would have a little burn to the green rice , was easy to see then and 52 years later overlap streaks are still easy to see , still waiting on someone to explain to me how to apply aerially and to make sure there’s no skips ,better have some overlap . | |
