Subject: I built the farm app I wish my grandad had: giving it away here for free

My grandad passed away, and it got me thinking about the small farm he left behind.

Like a lot of small farms, there was no fancy precision-ag setup. No team looking at satellite data. No agronomist checking dashboards every morning. Mostly experience, walking the fields, watching the weather, and knowing the land.

I work in tech, and I kept wondering why so much of the technology that exists in agriculture still feels inaccessible to smaller farmers.

We have satellites passing overhead. We have years of weather data. We have AI that can make sense of huge amounts of information. Yet a farmer can still end up with five different tools and a screen full of charts that basically says: figure it out yourself.

So I started building Cropple.

The idea is pretty simple: add your fields and Cropple watches them for you, satellite crop health, vegetation changes, moisture signals, weather and field history, and tries to turn all of that into something actually useful:

“Something changed here. This part of the field is worth checking.”

I’m trying to build the kind of thing I wish my grandad could have had: affordable for a small farm, simple enough that you don’t need to be a precision-ag expert, but genuinely useful rather than another dashboard.

And I wanted you all here to be able to try it for freee, at least for a bit. No catch. I genuinely hope it helps someone.

If you do try it, drop me a note and tell me how you ended up using it. what it spotted, what was useful, what was completely useless. And if you’d like to help shape what I build next, I’d love that too.
