Jensen's? Closed?
I used to go to Southside welding once a year or so. I haven't been there for several years. Vern still came to work last I was there. He was close to 80 then.

Southside welding is still going, I just had some machine work done down there a couple of weeks ago. Yea Slim (Vern) was a great guy, and darn smart. I don't think he is able to get in there much at all any more.

The shop that closed was run by a father and son that both worked at SSW for years. They owned the place on the north end of town that built the long, sloped, car hauling trailers. The son always worked in the machine room at SSW and he did machine work at the new place and had employees that built the trailers. They were forced out of business by a lawsuit when an elderly (80'S) man that had no business climbing around on a trailer like that slipped and fell and was injured. If I remember right the trailer was icy at the time. Dam lawyers!
