West Central MN | One could think of a 3D printer being similar to a paper printer hooked to to a computer. It is self contained with its own operating software to print but that's it. Similar to telling a paper printer to print a document, a 3D printer will print whatever widget you tell it to print.
One either needs to download a third-party premade 3D CAD model of the part to be printed, or create one's own 3D drawing of the part. That 3D model then is processed with a slicer software so the printer knows how to print the different layers. One needs to be proficient in CAD software to really unlock the capability tailored to the user's needs. | |
