Subject: RE: Sicklebar haybine hay

Sections stick past the bottom 1/2 of the guard 1/4-1/2 inch bit more past top 1/2 which is adjustable with a set screw or bolt, so no hold downs, at least on the later ones, meaning last 30-40 years or so. I think I replaced one section on about 150 acres this year, rod post jumped out of the fence if I recall correctly. We do keep rocks / stones picked pretty clean. Cut the corner off a bias 15 car tire in a swamp one dry year.(9' Hesston 1120) I have seen alot of JD and Hesston with stubs on, only 1 or 2 NH ever and I have seen lot of haybines on auctions over the years.
