| Oh boy, it is so much easier to grow more bushels than add animals. Commodities take a spike upward, it’s fairly easy to find another 80 (likely bid it away from a cattle producer), lock in prices for fall delivery, and expand the operating line…and then all you need to do is put a few more hours in the seat. Cattle you need to figure out first if you are willing to work past dark every evening including Sundays, spend huge amounts of money to compete with the row crop neighbors to secure land, knowing full well by the time you actually expand production that the rug will be pulled out from under you and lose your shirt. | |
