When the feds drill wells and you only have to pay for half the cost— what do you think happens?
When the feds pay for the fence material— what do you think happens??
That isn’t a subsidy— because the cattle boys never see a 1099. (It’s non taxable)
Provide similar in the Midwest and guess what?? You will see cow numbers explode. Confinement type situations with exercise pastures. Feed the cows. Manage the cows. Get better quality beef— faster.
It’s all economics. You can’t provide welfare to a % of the business and expect the rest to continue— doesn’t work. We are struggling to figure that out with people as well.
No, high quality beef isn’t going back into the pastures for feed. Not going to happen. But pay people under 40 $150/month/cow. And on the most productive land you can now provide feed for 2.5 pairs. Guess what happens?
It’s called ECONOMICS— it isn’t hard.
