I agree. I should have included lamb in my list. Occasionally I try lamb and I want to like it. Most lamb and goat has a “gamey” flavor for me. I believe it’s the lanolin. I’ve heard other folks have the same experience.

I remember as a kid, catfish had a “muddy” flavor. Once catfish farming expanded, catfish tasted a lot cleaner to me and I really enjoy it. If you can figure out a way to eliminate the lanolin flavor, I would be a huge fan of lamb. I believe other consumers would too.


I raise hair sheep and that's almost all of what I eat. What I've tried in restaurants has tasted more gamey. I have a daughter who prefers lamb over beef hands down. Personally I'll put a home grown lamb loin chop or leg steak just a bit above a beef ribeye or T-bone.
