Latimer Iowa
We used to bale some straw but the local market is not good enough to justify baling much. We also really fight humidity here in July and getting the straw to dry out. Takes a pretty decent baler to follow a big combine, I am not getting younger to love small squares enough. :-). Generally we cut the oats at 18% before the start to have lodging issues. Guys that do vale sometimes combine and then come back and clip the straw later after the stems have dried.

I like the double crop after a very short, early oat variety. Looking like the fields after fuller season, taller variety are rough.

Planted some CDC Anson oats this year, did about the same as our usual oats, just much later.
