Subject: RE: Record land sale/ the future

Based upon replies I have seen in these forums for years to guy who complain about BTOs taking over in their area, looks to me like your options are as follows:

1: First thing is to recognize and accept that you are just jealous that someone else is eating your lunch. This is first and foremost, no matter what of the following options you choose.

2: Buy a pair of muck boots, a pitch fork, an ear tagger, a vaccination gun, headgate, and a bunch of cattle.

3: Start putting solar panels and/or wind generators on your farm.

4: Buy all the items listed in #2, but grow a beard, dress your wife very plain, put a greenhouse up, get a straw hat, and trade all of the powered machinery off for a good team of horses. Then buck up and get to work!

But in all seriousness, I find it very VERY sad that there are some comments already posted that essentially look at the Amish moving in as the worst case of all. While I am not right in a heavy Amish area, there are plenty within about 8 miles of me in two different directions, and I do not hear too many complaints from guys farming close to them. As a matter of fact, the opposite is actually the case and they are generally looked upon as an asset to the area because they are a good resource for things like building, carpentry, taking old farm buildings down, and some dang good food.

And frankly, the way they choose to farm, if they are making bank I say more power to them. They deserve it! We might be making more money too if we hadn't been hoodwinked into outrageously expensive farm equipment and technology that has essentially turned all of us into fat, lazy slaves to the companies making it.
