I don’t know how you can calculate the pressure that was pent up in there, but obviously there was a liquid seal or seals left in the reel and there was enough pressure behind it to launch the plug.

To partly answer your question, the area of the plug is a big part of that. 4” diameter would have 12.5 square inches so whatever air presssure there was left multiplied by 12.5 equals POW!
