Northeast Tennessee | Been in the cow/calf business all my life, there just isn't enough money in it long term to justify expanding. If cattle prices would have went up at the same level as the price of inputs, cattle would be much higher than the prices were just a few days ago. Importing beef to lower price is a political move for mid-terms and solves nothing for the cattle business. The cattle producer is just having the rug jerked out from under his feet one more time as it always happens. Maybe someday importing beef into the U.S. will work out as well as importing oil has since the 70's lol.
