| I'm thinking there will be a lot of calves that DON'T bring $2800 this fall and winter. Corn here is approaching $6.00 with a 90 cent basis. Put a number in front of a ton of hay and there probably has been some sold for that price. Fuel is high and getting higher. Cattle feeders have got to make up for it somehow. A friend calves late and is sending some pairs to WY to run on meadow regrowth, $2.50 a pair for a couple of months. The alternative (feeding them) is closer to $5.00
