Maryville, MO | There’s a debate at the farm about the most efficient way to sweep out grain bins. For years, we’ve always swept behind the auger. However, every now and again we’re busy doing other things and just let the sweep go around and clean up once it’s done.
To me, I’d rather let it go around and then clean up, as it limits my total time in and bin to 20-30 minutes at the very end. Juxtapose that to following the sweep the whole time and I’m in there for a couple hours.
It appears to me that the most efficient way is to let the sweep go around and then clean out at the end.
What is the consensus on here? Am I crazy for doing it this way?
Note: I understand it’s not safe being in the bin with a running sweep. | |
