I've seen a lot of range grass seedings fail because of coated seed. Takes moisture away from seed to break coating down. I grit my teeth with coated alfalfa seed. It cuts the number of seeds in a bag because you take up volume with clay coating. So, you need to increase seeding rate. It does make seed a little easier to meter, just a marketing ploy to me.
