Subject: gift tax and capital gains tax rate

Pittsburg, Kansas

Pretty good time to do it. Right now capital gains has zero tax for a pretty good chunk of money before higher rates kick in. I forget the exact amount. Then not extremely high progressive rates after that. Then use the annual gift exemption till it is used up then file a gift tax return for the excess over the annual exemption. At least that is the way our tax manager has been doing it. In our case not land but appreciated stock gains.

Next administration............. who knows what will happen with capital gains tax to make sure we pay our "fair share". Or even gift tax exemptions.

Not to mention crazy high land prices.
