Bigalbert2332 - 8/19/2026 21:31 Where’s Joe R with his “heat didn’t hurt this crop”? Tip back is real this year

I just watched their recap of the day.   The bigger issue with Illinois is not tip back, it's less kernel rows- least measured since 2013.   That happened when it was raining buckets in June.    Western Iowa sure looks like a mixed bag.   Counter to the tough stuff, both sides seem to be noting lower than normal disease pressure.

Rows around doesn't affect yield, so if that was the primary factor driving the lower PF tour estimate, I wouldn't put too much faith in it. In reality, tip back is a far bigger factor, followed by kernel depth that is still being determined.
