Lancaster PA | I am in the same area as you and am interested in possibly building 2 as well. I haven't talked to any of the companies yet but I know farmers who have been growing broilers for a while. We rented a house for 6 years a while back so i have some experience. The one company in our area wants concrete floors and houses are cleaned out completely every flock. From what I have heard this makes the manure less valuable for fertilizer because its mostly shavings. The first week or two and the last week or two take extra time. The weeks between are minimal labor. The growers that I know admit building has slowed because of costs but companies are looking for houses and are giving incentives to get people to build. Not sure if I answered any of your questions, just telling you what I know and have heard.....
