Brandon, MS | Discing up some pasture for rye grass this winter. This will be the last time it's tilled for several years so I want it to be smooth when I'm done. What's your procedure for getting the field smooth?
Current method is to disc it 3 - 4 times over a 3 - 4 week period. The last couple of passes would also be pulling a section harrow to somewhat smooth and break up any remaining clods. I'll also be taking the box blade and filling in some holes and cutting some ditches before seeding.
What's everyone else do? Does anybody go over it with a do-all? What about a culti-packer?
Not opposed to acquiring a used piece of equipment for the job. The field is only about 25 acres. Too cut up for even a little land plane though. Kind of sits on the side of two hilles with a ditch running diagonally through the middle. | |
