SE Georgia | I don’t under stand how 24” rows fit 36”rows,but I guess it doesn’t matter.We are in 38” rows and have planted 19” corn because it is a row in between each 38” row and skipped the rows behind the tractor tire.We made a 11 row planter on a 6 row bar.3 rows under the tractor and 4 rows on each side behind a kmc strip till rig.We didn’t see much difference in yield.I think if you grow soybeans 19” is the sweet spot for us,but I hope I don’t have to grow beans.I think 30 “ corn would be good,but I’m not growing 30” cotton or peanuts.For us I think until we get above 250-275 bu 38” will work fine.We thought about going to a 16r30 corn planter and planting a 30” skip row cotton,but I can’t get excited about putting a skip row kit on the cotton pickers.If you’re trying to make 350bu or better corn narrow rows would be good IMO because of how far you can push population,but I don’t have the management skills to do that on many acres.We planted some twin row corn that worked ok,but is a little harder on the head,and a nightmare if you have a hurricane or something like it blow your corn down,btdt.
