North central North Dakota | JRosenberger - 8/17/2026 09:24 That is interesting and thanks for sharing. $156/yr for internet is an attractive price - we pay quite a bit more for Starlink. T-Mobile does not serve our area at all. What kind of speed are you getting for $13/mo with unlimited data? Starlink here is generally between 40 and 100 down (weather dependent) and about 20 up.
SLOW! It is not speedy at all. I know of 5 or so cell phone towers within 15 miles of my shop. I first tried on door frame on north of shop. Almost no connection. Went to south side and was better and running unit at 90 degree helped also. In hindsight I should have spent the about $300 more for the outdoor unit. I still have the west side of the shop to try out also. I could make a weather proof type enclosure and put outside higher up also if I figure out which side of building to be on.
I just ran a speed test through my UCG Fiber and it said 18Mbps Down and 4Mbps Up. As I mentioned, I want to get a better cell signal and that should be better.
The speeds have allowed me to look at my Protect camera system every morning to make sure everything looks OK at the farm shop. When I am in the shop it is a direct connection to the Protect NVR so super fast since not cloud based. |
