Gary is a crazy place. I used to work for a railroad that ended there, and when I was track inspector I went there at least once a week.
I got a few screenshots of places I used to drive by. I’ll put in a picture of a Popeye’s that was on my normal route. It appears to be closed now, but it had fence with razor wire on the roof to keep people from stealing the rooftop units. It’s wild up there.
Must have been the Ft Wayne RR?
I used to cross through on the porter branch. While never got shot at we did keep the windows closed. Hit my share of couches and junk on the tracks. |
