Lots of labor, lots of equipment, lots of time that I’d rather use seeing the world and family. You do you.
I won't argue with this and for me May-July are intensely busy. However harvest is less intense for me than most of the full time non organic operations in my area. The time/labor bottleneck or weed control means that I have less acres to harvest than most full time operators.
For me organic production is a way to sell more hours of labor and management per acre for a reasonable price for my skill set.
I don't have weed free fields, but I don't think there's ever been a time where someone driving by couldn't tell what I planted (other than when I've grown canola because nobody else grows it here). |
