central - east central Minnesota - | sloughclub - 8/16/2026 08:19 Going up to that area last of August for a few days and then drive back down through Boone Ia for the farm progress show . Anyone have any thoughts on the area around Beaver bay on the Lake Superior coast north of Duluth ? Be sure to stop in Duluth Canal Park - it's worth the time and has a good museum right by the bridge and walk across the bridge to see the other side (or bike). Explore the whole north shore drive (the old hwy from Duluth to Two Harbors old Hwy 61 - NOT the expressway). Stop at all the wayside rests and look out at the lake. Hike up the rivers/waterfalls and check them out. The water fall hikes are just plan cool. Stop in Two Harbors and ck out the ore loading dock and light house/harbor (Agate Bay also). Two Harbors is a nice place to visit and check out. There's a good hiking/biking path from the harbor to the east and along Superior shore that ends at the camp ground (Oh, Two Harbor's got its name due to the harbor that loads ore and Burlington Beach Harbor ( (the camp ground), renamed town to Two Harbors). Stop at gooseberry falls - see all the water falls there, upper, lower and meddle falls. Split Rock light house would be next to stop and explore and seek out the water falls and lake there. Beaver Bay (town on 61) has side x side rentals - Lots cool trails to explore in the upper outlands in the area. Very, very cool. Bring your bikes (if you are a bike rider) trails along hwy 61 to explore - they are not flat land trails, a electric bike is helpful if you are not a ad vide biker. Beaver Bay is known for agate picking, so head to the shore and rivers. Silver Bay, up the road, has another iron ore processing and loading faciltiy and a cool harbor - worth checking out and check out the town (hidden behind the hill), it has a very cool overlook at top of the hill in town. Keep on exploring along hwy 61 to Grand Marais and even further up to Grand Portage (Check out High Falls and Pigeon Falls there). If you are into fishing, you can set one up in Two Harbors, and Grand Marais and likely Beaver Bay at the UTV rental shop . . . . There is more to do then you have time as it'd take at least a full summer to see and do it all . . . .. . .
