Subject: RE: Rodeo cattle

Central Coast, California
Generally the team roping cattle are corriente with narrower horns, lighter weight frame and faster at a run. the bulldogging cattle are heavily longhorn influenced for the wider spread horns and slower top speed. Tie down and break away calves are usually drop calves of any sort from a sale barn. Bucking bulls are a whole nother deal.

Definitely not something worth feeding really. Some longhorns carry a gene that makes the meat tough. They are roped for a few years and then the heifers get bred and you knock the horns off the steers and make hamburger out of them

They're survivors that do well on sticks and rocks and prefer heat over extreme cold.

The majority of roping cattle come up from Mexico. The rodeo industry is in a panic and having to change how they operate because how long the border was closed.
