Big Sky Country
About Nov 1 to June 1—so over 200 days.

Calves probably come in 550-600, leave@ 750 or so. A # perday gain is more than enuf.

I spend time with weaned calves, large corral—-just hang out—walk around—-couple small bales 2nd cut Alf, bag or 2 of cake—-pretty soon calmed down. And my heifers/couple old cows be with them.

Then several acre enclosure.

Then couple hundred acre field—native, deferred , —and got some fringed sagewort that late season hoof action does a number on. Feed where it’ll help the ground.

I am not into locking cattle up, packing feed in and manure out—-let ‘em range, minerals, supplement as needed. Decent winter, cows will be out where they are now—-grazing a 3 yr deferred field—-they’ll leave the rough stuff now—lots of it—-old grass, rough fescue, Idaho fescue, rank dry land hay—-but give them full feed alfalfa—every 3 or 4 days—-and they’ll shine —-clean it up, graze it down, anyway—-just some rambling on how we do stuff
