Ft. Ripley MN | I don’t mind calving our heifers… they aren’t any more trouble then the rest of the cows. Actually once bred and headed to pasture they join the mature cows and are expected to be a cow.
A little forethought into the heifer’s genetics and phenotype would help some folks. Just because she has the parts doesn’t mean she deserves to be a cow. It also helps when you select bulls on more then just there epd numbers.
Been trying to keep extra heifers the last couple years. Gonna keep with that strategy for now. | |
