That’s why I see the biggest chance at growing any numbers will be with increase in fall calving herd. Dry lot the cows until first of September and turn them out to graze corn stalks all winter. Will need supplement obviously. Calves wouldn’t be confined until weaning, mix some cover crops in and I think it works just more feeding.[/QUOT
This makes the most sense to me. I do think it’s catching on here in the Midwest albeit a little at a time. Still have to be able to find the dirt to do it on if you’re a young person just starting out though. |
