It was bound to happen sooner than later. Drought in the west. Heifer replacement cost too high. Kill capacity realignment to fat supplies. Import/export changes. Alternative meat supplies. Poultry went through this shakeout. Pork went through this. Now it’s cattle’s turn. I’m really not sure who will be the survivor on this one. My take is there will be more vertical integration financial alliances over the next few months.
