I only read the “note” one time, but being forewarned that there were problems, I read closely and found 9 punctuation, grammatical, and spelling mistakes. For me, that puts this “teacher” on the same level as those who teach the history of “World War Eleven.” A relative of mine once told me about arguing with his son’s teacher over a spelling test. The son heard “flo” so he wrote “flow.” The teacher marked it wrong. When the parent confronted the teacher the teacher insisted that “flow” was wrong because she said, “I mean dis flo like I’m standing on.”
Probably not very nice of me, but I would simply take a red pen, circle all the errors, and send it back to him/her (assuming the teacher is not an “it”) with a note asking if this is the language he/she intends to teach the class. Then I would ask my child to bring home every assignment so that I could use the assignment to teach proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Of course, I would have to learn it myself before I could teach my child. SMH |
