NE Indiana | Probably hadn’t quit yet. Gary is a ghost town in the mornings. You just don’t want to be up there in the evenings when it starts to come alive. When I inspected that section of track I always tried to go up there first and work my way back east. Especially since they run on Chicago time, I’d be out of there by 10:00 am local time. If I went the other way, I’d end up there around 3:00-4:00 and that was less than desirable. My basic strategy was, make sure I had gas, stop in Hobart and call dispatch to get track authority, then head up there. Get in and get out. | |
