Subject: Southern Kansas corn harvest....

South Central Kansas
Harvested the end on one field yesterday next to the hedge, pretty dry and poor, moisture 13.5.

Started down the hill away from the hedge and moisture went up to 20.

Changed fields today, got all of one end rows cut off and started along the poor hill side of the field. Moisture is all over the place from 13.5 up to 18. And I have no idea what's coming just by looking. I keep an eye on the yield monitor and the moisture. Even the few stalks with a few green leaves have lower moisture. The average on two loads was 16.2, right where I like to harvest.

The Coop manager kinda whined and said maybe wait till tomorrow to bring another load. Tt's been 103-105 here all week so the corn is losing a point or so a day. I hate to wait until the darned stuff gets down below 15.

Yields so far 100-140 depending on the ground. The best ground in the field is yet to come.
