Northern IN | I have had good success over the last few years with aerial seeding rye into standing corn. It usually gets done early September here. As far north as you are I would think sometime between now and the end of the month would work better for giving the rye a chance to get established before the weather turns cold. We were dry here last fall and the rye didn’t do much. We got rain this spring and when the weather warmed up the rye took off and we had a decent stand at planting. Every year is different but I usually get along well aerial seeding into corn. I have had good success doing this with annual ryegrass as well. Seeding into soybeans has been more hit and miss for me. | |
