Subject: RE: Phone holder for in equipment

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I have several semi-permanently mounted in my combine, tractors, pickup, Ranger etc. I use the wireless charging style so they are being charged automatically while in the stand. In some installs, I drill a hole in the plastic dash and use the vent style mounting hook by placing a small cotter key on the back side for the hook which is designed to clamp onto a vent fin. In a few cases I use the suction cup on glass which works better than I expected although I still prefer a more permanent mount.

All of them work OK but I really prefer the style that has curved arms to hold the phone. Its release button is on top of the back. This style allows me to reach for the phone, push the button and retrieve it with just one hand. Some other styles require using both hands, one to push the release button which is low on the back side and grab for the phone with the other hand.

I also have a few home style charging stands in my Lab and home. This style does not have the locking arms as that is not necessary in those locations. They plug into a 110VAC to USB wall adapter. They have an LED indicator that shows flashing green when charging which changes to solid green when the phone is charged. The LED is blue when plugged into USB without a phone.

Below is a picture in my Silverado. Note, I used a lighter USB plug instead of the built in USB ports so that the phone charger is "hot" even when the engine is not running.
