I don't expect 92 year old Ethel to run a trackhoe and a chainsaw, but busy body Bob who cuts firewood to heat with can't seem to take care of things wears on a guy especially when he want's top dollar.
I absolutely understand where the OP is coming from because distance and labor absolutely make this suck more. A tree that fell into a field 35 miles away turns into a half a day project, what's the ROI on that?
I don't have the landlord any more but I had one who claimed he loved doing logging, he would bring it up in nearly every conversation. Most of his farm had trees 20-30 feet into the field, it was hard to understand especially considering he was farming it himself prior.
We had a wind event in early April so I spent a day this spring running around with a skid steer and chainsaw, I got to one farm unloaded and bounced all the way back to the back fenceline to find out it had already been taken care of by the LL. Next time I talked to him I told him I found what he did with the skid loader and he said I'm the owner, isn't that my responsibility? I told him you'd be surprised. | |
