Can a 2002 Gleanr R62 handle a 35 foot 9250 draper head?
Our R62 is equipped with a draper kit but we are only running a 25 foot 800 head right now.
Before everyone says no....Yes, it absolutely can handle it.
The question is, how do you want to drive? 2002 was 285hp, and with a 35' and an original 8 bar rotor, it's going to be GROWLING along at 2.5mph with a 35' header. If you have a CDF, you might get 3mph...these green stem beans are much different than what that old rotor was designed for.
So, yes, you can run it...but do you want to drive that speed. Combine capacity has ZERO to do with header size, and everything to do with either tons/hr our bu/hr. Soybean Bu/hr is much different than Corn bu/hr because of the amount of trash, but the amount of trash is (roughly) the same at 2.5-3.0mph with a 35', 3.5-4.0mph with a 30', or 4.5-5.0mph with a 25'. How do you prefer to drive it?
I'm the same guy who runs a 40' head on S67, S68, and S96 even though a LOT of people would have you believe it can't do it...sure it can, but it's not going to drive as fast as a class 8 machine pushing the same header...but it's still doing the job, it's not overloading it, and it's not losing extra crop.
