First thing to do is check the voltage at the lamp, ground is often an issue on those models.
LEDs have a lot to offer, BUT, are a failure in ice and snow. Horror stories of LED traffic lights in Northern areas, had to go back and add heaters.
We run at least one set of incandescent brake/turn signals. Many DOTs are writing tickets for "lights not visible".
