| We have been Samaritan’s Members for 10 years. Went with them because they “share” air ambulance and how they treat preexisting conditions vs some of the others. Also, they will share injuries related to or caused by farm work where others would not….Rather wanted coverage through Workman’s Comp Policy. System and mindset of Samaritans works best if you’re willing and able to do some shopping or fact finding relative to price and service from providers etc. Wife needed Chemo….Hospital quote for IV administered DiphenHydramine was $22,533….That drug is more commonly known as Benadryl …..We picked it up at the pharmacy in pill form the night before the Chemo for $1. Similar savings for an upset stomach drug in pill form vs administered IV prior to Chemo drug. Need to be comfortable asking questions and keeping the system accountable. In all cases we have used our choice of hospitals/ providers etc…
Last month Samaritians shared $33Million….which is a typical month. That means regular folks sent regular folks with health care bills $33M in personal checks or used the automated system through their bank. You have to submit bills via website, do some basic math /accounting and be comfortable managing your own healthcare. We have had 2- 6 figure needs in those 10 years. Very satisfied and have saved over $300,000 in premiums. The risk is there is no legal obligation to pay/ share as compared to Insurance.
