I tend to think being present is the main thing. Enjoying the kids interest and discipline is important. I used to catch my self saying no to things, and my wife would question it, and then they realized it wasnt the no, it was the response I got from it. Once my kids figured that out it wasnt a problem . Simple respect trumps all.
