You’re correct it’s not Fargo concrete and pavement flooding itself. It’s also not drain tile like others mentioned because it’s not running in March and April.
In my opinion it’s increased surface drainage or drainage projects, dam and reservoir operations but most importantly it’s just snowfall and spring melt tied with spring precipitation. Look back at precipitation records and it shows the pattern.
The retention portion of the diversion will be interesting how it functions. The plan says it’s now supposed to raise spring flood anything more then a inch or two and all water from south of Fargo and the rest of the drainage basin is supposed to pile up for a couple weeks until they release it through the diversion.
They are still running 38ft of water through Fargo. We may never see water go through the actual diversion channel. Talk about government waste of money. |
