| I've been i little lax on a lot of things, mainly if it wasn't a big deal or maybe the kid learned something from it. If I told them to do something, then they needed to do it but I didnt scream and yell if they forgot, maybe because my memory is terrible and screaming and yelling never helped mine. So far they've turned out pretty good, willing to work and respectful. I do wish I had been around d more, seems I was always gone working, to teach them more about useful things like mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, etc.my mother had a habit of inventing a rule that made no sense and demanded everyone obey her rule, that taught me a couple things. One is that you lose respect of people when you do that, not gain respect for the "authority". Another is that there are people out there like that and sometimes you have to put up with their BS. Im down to one kid left in the house and now have been making more time to try and teach a few of those things. Another one is working as an electrician and trying to figure out life but hes working every day and isnt hooked on drugs or any of those mistakes that can ruin a person's life. I guess at this point my kids will talk to me and seem to enjoy our time together and that is important too. | |
