Northeast ks | I will add a picture of a simple floating deck, not attached to house. It is setting on concrete pads with 4×4 posts. Then you put a 2x8 on each side to hold all the weight. Then use 2x6 for the joists on 16 inch spacing. I used joist hangers to fasten the 2x6's to the 2x8. Then I use the 1 1/4" thick decking (5/4). Make the deck as long as the decking pieces.
