East of Broken Bow
Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

My dad was renting me ground by the time I was 18, by the time I was 21, I was doing share rents on over half the owned acres. Dad let me decide what to plant where (for the most part, once or twice he recommended against a crop that never did well historically in certain fields, but left the ultimate decision for me) and he told me when he became a greandpa, he wanted to be a hired man, and not a manager so he had free time with the grandkids, and that is pretty much how it happened.
Once he was 'grandpa', he would come out and just do what needed to be done, as per my business decisions.
To be fair, he had a LOT of input in things, but mostly because I asked his advice, and I asked his advice mostly because he didn't tell me what to do, just offered suggestions how to maybe make things go smoother, but respected my decisions, right or wrong.
