Could, but we are in an area that gets lots of rain in spring. Between planting and sidedress I think we had 8 inches of rain. From my understanding sulphur is pretty leachable.
Also not sure I could put on as much as I want with planter anyway.
Other option is just spreading ams ahead, but once again is earlier than I’d like
