IL near StL | We've gotten along mostly good with ours, mostly corn and beans but do raise some wheat. If you are baling straw then it's the berries. In soybeans, and wheat too if you aren't windrowing, it does a better job of distributing residue than the other style. We have learned that it's best to remove the pan under the overshot beater when cutting beans, especially if they are a little green because you can plug it and by the time you figure it out, you have a bigger problem. We run that pan in corn (have to) but nothing else. The other thing we've done is remove the actuator that changes the door from spread to windrow and replaced it with a solid piece that won't let it open. Our mechanic recommended that in corn and beans because apparently that door can work open and then you plug it. One thing we haven't figured out yet is why the belt tensioner for the overshot beater keeps disappearing. Something won't seem quite right and you get looking at it back there under the shield and find that everything is gone except maybe the j bolt. Would be one thing if there weren't jamb nuts on there, I just don't understand it. We generally like it because of how well it spreads but ours hasn't been without a learning curve.
