I don’t use my 1008 JD a lot but that’s what I put in the main box (drives one spindle out bottom, right side output shaft for right gearbox/spindle) when I rebuilt mine because of a twisted off shaft. That’s what was in it when I disassembled it. Right gearbox still has gear oil and Lucas oil stabilizer in it.

Buy a case of corn head grease, you’ll use most of it most likely.
