Some extremely interesting Civil War history there. Fort Defiance is their one diamond in the ruff.

Do not rate us in Little Egypt based on that $*&#hole. Illinois has south Chicago, East St Louis and Cairo. During the 2011 flood, it was heavily considered to allow the city to flood and disappear vs. intentionally breaking levies and flooding open farmland.

East, North or West 30m is beautiful. Can't go wrong. I'm not a fan of wineries but if that's your thing, I second the above poster that mentioned the southern Illinois wine trail. I've been to all of them. Pretty impressive digs for the area.
